Thailand is an invariably popular destination for many, not only as a vacation and wintering place, but also as an option for permanent residence; about the amount of expenses during your stay in this country, read our fresh material.

Despite the fact that now foreigners can get to Thailand only after undergoing quarantine, the country's leadership is discussing the possibility of canceling it for vaccinated tourists. It is also worth noting that at the end of last year, this country returned a visa-free entry regime for Russians, who, as you know, for many years were not only great lovers of spending their holidays in Thailand, but also active buyers of local housing. In addition to the favorable climate - the air temperature in any month of the year tends or crosses the mark of 30 degrees and only monsoons with rains can cool the heat of the country a little - many chose Thailand as a profitable place to live in terms of costs. Often here you could meet our compatriots who rented out their apartment in Moscow and rented Thai housing for this amount and covered all daily expenses.

True, the ruble exchange rate in recent years has influenced the fact that previously "cheap" countries can no longer be called such, including Thailand. Rather, it is worth counting on the fact that the costs will be approximately comparable, but at the same time life will take place at a resort on the seashore under the sun, surrounded by ripe fruits (unless, of course, we are not talking about the capital Bangkok, known as one of the world's largest business centers) ... The lowest prices in Thailand are stable in the north of the country, the highest in Bangkok and in key resorts - Phuket and Samui, lower prices will be in Pattaya. This applies both to the prices for buying and renting real estate, as well as everyday expenses.

The capital of Thailand has been on the list of the 100 most expensive cities in the world for expats over the past few years, thanks to the stable Thai baht, economic growth and effective policies of the country. According to a study by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University in Bangkok, most Thais are worried about the country's too high cost of living and high prices for consumer goods. When planning a trip or relocation, just in case, you should also be aware that a few years ago Thailand became the first in the world in terms of economic inequality of the population: 1% of the richest Thais own more than 2/3 of the wealth of the entire country, which is the highest indicator in the world. stratification of society.

Rental of property

The cost of renting a modest one-bedroom apartment in Pattaya will start at 280 euros per month, two-bedroom apartments will cost 1000 euros per month. Renting an apartment in Phuket will range from $ 330 to $ 3300, depending on the specific option. Renting a property on Koh Samui will be cheaper than in Phuket, but more expensive than in Pattaya. In Bangkok, the most budgetary option will cost $ 300-400, and the expensive one can be measured in several thousand dollars per month.

Communal expenses

Water costs are typically around $ 16 per month and are often included in the rental price. Electricity costs more: in a particularly hot period, when the air conditioner operates around the clock, the cost of it can reach $ 100 per month (if it is not used, this amount will be $ 20).

The Internet is an unobvious item of expenses due to the fact that in Russia a very small amount is spent on it, while in other countries it is more significant spending, including in Thailand - you will have to pay about 35 dollars a month for Internet access.

Transport

If a foreigner prefers to spend all his time in one place - where he rents or owns his own home, then, of course, he will not have problems in the field of transport. If you want to take a walk, you should understand that, for example, Phuket is not well suited for walking and urban public transport is poorly developed here. A taxi ride for a short distance will average about $ 10, from the airport to the sea (30 minutes) - over $ 30. The opposite situation is in Bangkok - there you will need to pay $ 13 for a 40-minute taxi ride from the airport to the city. By train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (800 km), an air-conditioned reserved seat ticket will cost $ 25. Long-distance buses in Thailand are also air-conditioned: a trip from Bangkok to Phuket (850 km) will cost $ 33 for the highest class.

Many foreigners prefer to rent cars ($ 500-800 per month) and scooters ($ 100-170 per month), although in Thailand you will have to get used to left-hand traffic and rather hectic traffic on the roads.

Food

The cost of food in supermarkets in Thailand is approximately identical to the Moscow level, but the prices of cafes and restaurants will be lower. On average, one dish will cost about $ 2-3, but keep in mind that these are prices in simple establishments. If the restaurant is European-style (or wants to eat something non-Thai), then the prices will be twice as high.

On average, with all expenses, including rental housing, for 1-2 people in the resort part of Thailand, it will cost about $ 2,000, if we are talking about more northern cities, then costs there may be halved.
