Lovers of warm water should take into account that the Costa Brava is located north of the other coasts of Catalonia and, if the trip is not planned during the high season, the water can be much cooler than on the coasts south of Barcelona. At the same time, the Costa Brava can be recommended to those who do not like or do not tolerate heat - in the summer months it is cooler here, a light sea breeze is perfectly refreshing.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada is that on the Costa Brava, many beaches are surrounded by pine forests, while the Costa Dorada will delight you with southern landscapes and palm trees along the embankments. By the way, sports lovers (primarily diving or surfing) will prefer the Costa Brava: there are much more chances to get an unforgettable experience from these activities.

Thanks to the Mediterranean Sea, the Costa Brava has a mild subtropical climate all year round. In winter, the average temperature is around 8-12 ° C, in summer the womb reaches 30 ° C, and the water temperature is about 23 ° C. In spring and autumn, temperatures in the region are usually above 20 ° C.

Features of Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar has eight beaches with beautiful, like golden sand, among them both crowded, noisy, and quiet, cozy.

Sa Boadella Beach is perfect for families with children due to its gentle descent into the water. The 450-meter beach of Santa Cristina is suitable for those who like to relax in secluded places: it is located about three kilometers west of the main beach and is located between two large rocks that protect it from the wind. Santa Cristina is considered the most picturesque beach in the city. On Canyelles Beach, about three kilometers from the main beach, there is a small harbor and a yacht club, and on the beach you can practice several water sports or go on a boat trip. Waterworld, one of the largest water parks in Europe, is also waiting for water lovers.

In addition to natural beauty, the city, whose history dates back to the 4th century BC, also has historical sights. Castel de San Juan Castle is a preserved monument of medieval Spain. Unfortunately, only the foundation and the tower of the castle have survived, from which a fabulous view of the coast opens up.

The secluded church of Sant Roma, built in 1522, is known as a typical example of Catalan Art Nouveau. In addition, the city has another castle - Castel d'en Plaja, which was built at the foot of a hill near the Bay of Sa Caleta in the middle of the last century.

The Botanical Garden of Santa Clotilde, located next to Fenals Beach, is one of the most picturesque places in Lloret de Mar. Designed in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance, this garden has been in existence for over a century and is considered one of the finest historic Mediterranean gardens in Europe.

The nightlife should be mentioned separately. If you are looking for a quiet town, then this is not about Lloret de Mar. There are more than 300 entertainment venues in the city, where noisy parties take place all year round.

How to get from Russia

Lloret de Mar is located 75 kilometers from Barcelona Airport and 30 kilometers from Girona Airport. Average flight time Moscow-Barcelona 4 hours 15 minutes. There are regular buses from the airports to Lloret de Mar, you can take a taxi or rent a car. You can get from Girona by bus or car in just half an hour.

Lloret de Mar does not have its own train station, so a train from Barcelona can take you to the neighboring town of Blanes in an hour and a half. There is a bus from Blanes to Lloret de Mar, the journey takes 20 minutes.

Lloret de Mar usually offers a large number of budget-friendly apartments for Costa Brava, suitable for those who prefer not to spend too much on the purchase. In addition to real estate in the city itself, you can also choose an option in suburban urbanizations, usually on a hill with sea views, where premium-class houses are mainly represented.

When choosing real estate to buy, it is worth deciding on the purpose: do you plan to live here all year round, spend summer vacations or rent it out. For permanent residence, it is better to choose a townhouse or a house in quiet urbanizations, where there are practically no tourists. In the urbanization of Sierra Brava, which is located on a mountain, it is possible to purchase a villa with a sea view. From the Sierra Brava, it is convenient to drive to the secluded beach in Canyeles Bay. Another option is an apartment in a gated complex, for example, in the Fenals area (Russian speakers are especially fond of it, there are even several shops with Russian products here). In general, Fenals is an ideal place for family life, where there is everything you need, and you can get to the mora in 10 minutes.

It is better not to consider a noisy center for permanent residence. But if you are planning a purchase for the purpose of investment and subsequent lease, you should definitely pay attention to this area, as well as the proximity of a particular object to the sea. In this case, it is worth considering apartments in the city center, in the Fenals area or houses in the urbanizations Cala Canyeles, Cala San Francesc, Montgoda.

Most of the properties in Lloret de Mar are considered highly liquid. Since this is a resort town, there is a demand for both long-term and short-term rentals. It is worth avoiding unless buying a home in poor condition, for example, with mold.

Despite the pandemic, property prices in Lloret de Mar have not fallen, but rather continue to rise. The fact is that in Spain, after the lockdown, there was a great demand for houses with their own territory in the suburbs and small towns such as Lloret de Mar. Many have moved here from megacities or purchased a second residence.

Real estate in Lloret de Mar is affordable for the middle class. The cost of apartments in the city starts from about 120,000 and more, but you can also find a small studio apartment for about 70,000 euros. In the Sierra Brava, you can buy a house with a sea view for about 400,000 euros. Prices for luxury villas in Canyeles Bay start at 500,000 euros. However, the real estate in the middle price range is in the greatest demand.

Experts consider buying real estate in this city a great investment. The average cost per square meter in Lloret de Mar, according to the Idealista portal, for June 2021 is 1,892 euros per square meter. This is 0.9% more than in June 2020. Growth in recent years has been insignificant, but with the removal of restrictions, it may again turn out to be quite sharp, as in 2017-2018, when prices rose by 5-6% per year.
