Orihuela Costa is part of the Autonomous Community of Valencia and is located in the southwest of the province of Alicante. This picturesque part of the Spanish coastline starts from Torrevieja in the north and extends to Torre de la Horadada in the south. The city itself and the municipality of Orihuela, which gave the name to this territory, is located 20 km from the Mediterranean coast. However, when it comes to buying resort property, it is the coastal area with resorts that is considered.
How to get there
Getting to the Orihuela Costa coastline is very convenient, because the area is half an hour drive from Alicante International Airport and 20 minutes from Murcia International Airport. It is easy to get from the region to high-speed federal highways, along which you can quickly get to neighboring countries, is not difficult. There are no problems with public transport: by train and buses you can comfortably get not only to Alicante and Murcia, but also to Valencia, Barcelona and even France.
Nature and beaches
The surroundings of Orihuela Costa are rich not only in picturesque beaches, but also in Mediterranean vegetation. There are many valleys, there is a large nature reserve, pine and oak groves, meadows with many fragrant plants grow. This natural wealth is due to the local mild climatic conditions without the incinerating sun. There is also a small amount of precipitation here, mainly in spring and autumn. Storms that cross the Iberian Peninsula from the Atlantic rarely reach here, and in summer the Mediterranean breeze cools the coastline and makes the local subtropical climate especially pleasant.
Most of the beaches of Orihuela Costa have a Blue Flag award for their infrastructure and water quality. Their width reaches 70 meters and there is practically no noise from the highways. All recreation areas are equipped with sun umbrellas, sun loungers, changing rooms and showers, there are sports grounds for beach football and volleyball, rental points for equipment for water sports - surfing, diving, wakeboard, scooter and sailing. In addition to the beaches on Orihuela Costa, there are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, sports complexes, tennis courts and even golf courses in abundance. It is worth noting the fact that this area is rich not only in beaches, but also in salt lakes with medicinal mud. It is not surprising that the local regions attract many vacationers, as well as those who buy real estate here, making their old dream come true in a favorable southern climate on the seashore.
Resorts
Punta Prima is a small seaside resort that borders Playa de Los Naufragos in neighboring Torrevieja. There is both an active area with restaurants, yacht clubs, shops, nightclubs, and a deserted area with prestigious closed residences and villas, where lovers of quiet rest like to spend time. The town also has a supermarket, tennis courts, an equestrian club, go-karting center, gyms, bowling alley, well-developed water sports and first-class golf courses in the vicinity. Despite the modest length of the resort's coastline - only 170 meters - it is famous for its beach, where an elevator has been operating since 2010, with which you can go directly to the water.
South of Panta Prima is another picturesque resort - Playa Flamenca. Until 1970, the local coastline was characterized by desert terrain, but then it began to develop rapidly after Belgian investors began to invest in the construction of local housing and infrastructure with an eye on foreign buyers. Thanks to this, today in Playa Flamenca there is not only a good resort property, but also well-groomed clean beaches, shops, cafes and bars. Life in the town is distinguished by a particularly calm rhythm of life, which is great for families. From here, Torrevieja can be reached in just 15 minutes by car, while Elche, Cartagena and Murcia can be reached in half an hour.
La Zenia is a small popular beach resort. There are several promenade embankments, where vacationers love to walk and play sports, and all the necessary infrastructure. The city beach is considered one of the busiest on the entire Orihuela Costa. Also, shopping lovers often come to La Zenia - the city is home to the largest shopping center in the southern part of the Costa Blanca, Zenia Boulevard.
Villamartin is located about 3 km from the coastline. It is surrounded by golf courses, numerous pines, thujas and palms. On the central market square there are shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, shopping and sports centers and even international schools. There are residential complexes with modern apartments and townhouses, as well as premium villas. Most residences have swimming pools, fountains, playgrounds, tennis courts and recreation areas.
Cabo Roig is considered the most prestigious and picturesque resort on the entire Orihuela Costa and is often referred to as the pearl of the southern Costa Blanca. It is located on the promontory of the same name, where there are two sandy beaches with incredibly clear water, and there is a marina nearby. The most luxurious villas in the area can be found here. The main attraction of Cabo Roig is the 16th century watchtower, which today is used as a wine cellar (it also has a large restaurant adjoining it with wonderful sea views). The resort has shops, banks, a cinema, restaurants and cafes, tennis courts, well-developed water sports and excellent golf courses 4 km away.
In the southernmost part of the Orihuela Costa, Campoamor is also notable for the fact that famous and wealthy people like to rest here. The main attraction of the resort is the picturesque natural park Sierra Escalona y Dehesa de Campoamor and of course the beautiful local beaches stretching along the 2-kilometer coastline. Campoamor also has first-class golf courses, tennis courts, restaurants and shops, cinemas, hotels, banks, a medical center, pharmacies. There are also riding schools, diving and surfing schools. The town is built up mainly with expensive villas and houses, but there are also high-rise residential buildings, where beautiful panoramic views of the sea and green area open from the windows of the apartments.
Prices
You can buy an apartment with two bedrooms in a new building in one of the Orihuela Costa resorts near the beach for 200,000 euros. For the same amount, you can buy a townhouse, although in this case you will have to get to the sea by car. The cost of houses starts from 400,000 - 500,000 euros, depending on the distance from the coastline, and the prices for premium villas reach 1-1.5 million euros.
