Visas

In order for a foreigner to apply for a visa to Slovenia, it is necessary to submit a standard set of documents for obtaining a Schengen visa to the Consular Section of the Slovenian Embassy in Moscow. Also, a Slovenian visa can be opened in St. Petersburg, Pskov and Kaliningrad at the Latvian embassies and in Yekaterinburg at the Hungarian embassy.

Russian citizens can expect to receive transit and short-term visas. Depending on the purpose of the trip, short-term visas are tourist, business or guest.

Residence

A residence permit in Slovenia is given on the basis of opening a company in the country. The purchase of real estate can be registered with this company, and on the basis of employment in the same company, a foreigner can already obtain a residence permit. The issuance of a residence permit for buyers of real estate is regulated by the migration legislation of the country.

To obtain a permit to stay in the country, you must provide a valid passport, appropriate health insurance, proof of monthly income not lower than the minimum wage in Slovenia, a police clearance certificate from your country, translated into Slovenian and notarized.

An application with documents must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Moscow or to the consular mission of the Republic of Slovenia abroad, where you can also obtain permission.

The residence permit is issued first for a year with the possibility of extension for one more year, then for 3 years. In order not to lose the status of a residence permit, a foreigner must not leave the country for more than 9 months.

A residence permit in Slovenia gives the same social benefits as the citizens of the country: it allows you to study, work, use free medical services for free, but does not give the right to vote in elections.

If a foreigner has been living in the country on the basis of a residence permit for the last year or has a permanent residence permit, then his family members can obtain a temporary residence permit. To do this, you must provide the main package of documents, as well as confirmation of family ties. The main requirement for obtaining a residence permit is not to violate the terms of stay in the country and not to close the company.

Permanent residence and citizenship

A foreigner can obtain a permanent residence permit after 5 years of residence in the territory of Slovenia on the basis of a previously issued residence permit with permissible interruptions of no more than 9 months.

An application for a permanent residence permit is submitted to the local administrative body.

If a foreigner has a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Slovenia, then his family members may be issued a permanent residence permit after two years of continuous residence in the country on the basis of a residence permit.

After registration of permanent residence, you can transfer the property to an individual.

Obtaining a permanent residence permit opens the way for obtaining Slovenian citizenship. Foreigners who have lived in Slovenia for at least 10 years (of which 5 years with permanent residence), have renounced their previous citizenship, and have sufficient financial security can count on it. To obtain citizenship, it is necessary to pass an exam in the knowledge of the Slovenian language.
