There are no free public schools for foreigners in Germany, but if the parents have a residence permit in the country, then free schooling becomes available. A detailed list of documents for obtaining a visa to study at one of the country's universities can be found on the website of the German Embassy. It is better to start preparing documents six months before admission. They will need to be translated into German and certified by a notary. In addition to all the necessary documents, foreign students must confirm the availability of about 8,000-10,000 euros for annual residence in the country (account statement, parental statement, surety, scholarship, etc.) 400 hours, as well as the presence of a document on training in any Russian university for two years. School Compulsory schooling for children in Germany starts at the age of six. In public institutions, education for citizens of the country and for foreigners with a residence permit or a permanent residence permit is free. There are also paid private schools in Germany. In elementary school, children study for four years from 6 to 10 years. After graduating from elementary school (Grundschule), according to the recommendations of teachers and the wishes of parents, children can go either to Hauptschule (a prototype of an eight-year school), or to Realschule (a prototype of a ten-year Russian school) or to Gymnasium (corresponds to two courses in a Russian university or university). Only while studying at a gymnasium, you can pass a special exam and receive a diploma (Abitur), which gives you the right to enter a university or higher school. The average mark of the high school graduation certificate plays an important role in admission. If the average score is low, then, for example, one of the prestigious universities may not get into a demanded specialty. Universities, universities in Germany More than 380 state educational institutions are located in Germany. More than 100 of them are institutes, about 216 are higher schools (Fachhochschulen) and more than 50 are colleges of art and music. Public institutions of higher education are open to international students. To enter a German university, an applicant must submit an application and documents for admission to the international relations department of this educational institution, as well as show knowledge of the German language and prove financial independence. Most German universities accept documents from foreign students only through a special organization uni assist, which collects documents, checks them for correctness and completeness, and then sends them to the university. The services of this organization amount to 68 euros for the first application for non-residents of EU countries, 43 euros for residents of EU countries and 15 euros for each additional application during one semester. Russian students can apply to a German university after studying for two years at any university in Russia. Or, after studying for one year at a Russian university, but then you need to go to college at a German university (Studienkolleg). After studying at such a college, you can enter a university. Some of the most popular university departments have a very large competition, so it can be difficult for foreign students to get there. Foreign students need to know German at a high level (minimum level B1-C1). To do this, you need to pass the TestDaF language test. In some universities, the B1 level is sufficient for submitting documents, but before the start of the studies it will be necessary to upgrade it to B2-C1 and pass the DSH exam. Previously, in all universities in Germany, tuition fees were not charged directly, but now it is gradually being introduced in different regions of the country. The following federal states have introduced a total tuition fee of up to EUR 500 per semester: Baden-Wrttemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine Westphalia. In other lands, education is free. It is only necessary to pay a semester fee of 150 - 300 euros, which includes the payment of a travel ticket for the entire semester, management costs, student consultations, financing of the cafeteria, sports halls, etc. Students are also required to have German health insurance. Standard student insurance costs around ˆ 80 per month and covers almost all medical services and drugs. Students over the age of 30 can no longer have student insurance and must enter into a health insurance contract with a private company. Its cost can range from 130 to 300 euros per month, depending on the insurance company, type of insurance, insurance coverage, amount of personal contribution, age and gender of the applicant. In many institutes and higher schools, as a rule, in paid private universities, some subjects are taught in English, but the bulk of the program is in German. There are many private colleges in Germany that also offer a variety of higher education programs. The cost of one semester in them will cost from 1800 to 4700 euros. Accommodation in student dormitories costs about 160-300 euros per month, but many prefer to rent an apartment for several people outside of student cities. Students are eligible for work or student gigs, but no more than 120 working days or 240 noon days per year. After graduating from a German university, foreign citizens have the right to extend their residence permit for up to 18 months to look for work or prepare for business. If during this time it was not possible to find a job, the university graduate will be obliged to leave the territory of Germany and return to his homeland.
