Although a person likes to consider himself the "king of nature", every year it becomes more and more obvious that the environment must be respected and protected. Environmental principles are increasingly used in everyday life, and the construction sector is no exception. Buying a house that is built in accordance with nature, a person takes a step in the right direction – after all, only by preserving natural resources today, you can be sure that they will multiply in the future.
10. Canada, Alberta
"Three Sisters" is a world–class year-round ski resort located on an area of 800 hectares near the town of Canmore, in the province of Alberta. It is located at the foot of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, 5 min. from the National Park and 1 hour drive from Calgary. The resort is named after the three peaks surrounding it.
The Three Sisters Resort is spread over an area of more than 400 hectares. More than half of the resort's territory is a green zone, in fact, wildlife. Special crossings have been created on the roads connecting parts of the resort to allow wild animals to move safely and unhindered. Apartments here can be purchased at a price of 380,000 euros, townhouses – from 620,000 euros and houses – from 2.2 million euros.

9. Cyprus, Paphos
Kamares Village complex is built on the hills overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, 10 min. drive from Paphos, near Coral Bay beach. A number of environmental programs are being implemented here. The first of them is connected with the restoration of green spaces – on an area of 1 million square meters. m trees are planted. The water in the complex is heated using solar energy. All the houses are built with large windows with wooden shutters in order to avoid the heat, as well as with open terraces and courtyards. They are located at an altitude of 350-550 m above sea level, that is, residents will suffer less from humidity in summer. Each house faces southwest, so that during the winter months the housing will be provided with sunlight. The territory of the complex has a medical center, a clubhouse with a restaurant, a bar, a tennis court, a swimming pool, a library and a beauty salon.
Plots in the Kamares Village complex cost about 200,000 euros. Villas with 3 bedrooms under construction – from 500,000 euros, with 4 – from 700,000 euros. For secondary housing, prices start from 300,000 euros and reach more than 1.5 million euros – for a house with 3 bedrooms and a plot twice as large, with a swimming pool and other luxury amenities.

8. Portugal, Algarve
The Parque da Floresta Golf Resort is located on the border of the Costa Vicentina National Reserve. Its developers took care of the environment conscientiously. What is worth is the fact that over the past 15 years they have planted 167,000 trees! At the height and relevant for the Mediterranean concern about saving water – cleaning of pools is carried out with salt water, and a quarter of wastewater after treatment is reused for irrigation. There are also separate collection points for plastic, glass and paper on the territory of the complex. Of the 600 hectares of the Parque da Floresta complex, only 9% will be built up, and the houses will not exceed two floors in height.
At the moment, the resort is selling houses next to the golf course, with 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms. Each house has a private garden. Prices start from 398,000 euros. Villas with 4 and 5 bedrooms, with a private pool and garden cost from 890,000 euros. In addition to a large selection of housing, the complex has a Golf Academy, spa, sports facilities and five (!) communal swimming pools.

7. South Africa, Kwazulu Natal
Simbithi Eco-Estate is located on the coast of Kwazulu Natal, 30 min. drive from Durban – the third largest city in South Africa. The area of the resort is 430 hectares. This part of the coast is known for its rich flora and fauna, as well as stunning landscapes.
The developer has tried to minimize the impact on nature. The assessment of soil, water resources, flora was carried out, historical and cultural values were investigated. The very idea of the complex involves the creation of such buildings that would take into account the climate and terrain features and at the same time would be cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Recently, the sale of plots of the fourth stage was opened, with an area of 1200 to 2000 sq. m., prices for which start from 87,000 euros. Shared ownership of apartments with an area of 260 sq. m. m costs from 365,000 euros, and apartments with an area of 86 sq. m – 150,000 euros. Infrastructure facilities such as a clubhouse with a swimming pool, tennis courts and a restaurant are located on the territory. For children there is a playground and an outdoor green area for sports.

6. Caribbean Islands, Saint Kitts
Ocean's Edge Complex on St. Kitts Island is 10 minutes away. from the international airport. The complex is surrounded by a picturesque tropical forest, with stunning sea views from its windows. Nearby is the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, which has one of the most picturesque courses on the Caribbean Islands.
The houses in the complex are built on the principle of energy saving, they have double glazing, heat-insulating roofs, as well as solar panels that are used for heating water and lighting. Rainwater will be used to irrigate the resort area, and some of the wastewater will be treated and used to water the golf course.
A total of 191 real estate objects are planned to be built in the complex – apartments on the beach and on the hills, houses with gardens and villas. Infrastructure facilities include a clubhouse, wellness and fitness centers, restaurants, swimming pools and tennis courts. 1-bedroom apartments cost from 240,000 euros.

5. Spain, Cadiz
Arcos Gardens Resort is the record holder of Andalusia in terms of low building density: an area of 178 hectares will be built up by only 5-6%! At the same time, the developer has invested more than 4.5 million euros in the creation of an irrigation system.
In total, 470 houses – villas, townhouses and open-plan apartments made in a rural style will be built at the resort. All villas will be equipped with solar panels, the energy of which is used to heat water, and also have thermal insulation of basements and roofs and double glazing. Townhouses with 2 bedrooms cost from 350,000 euros, villas with 5 bedrooms – from 1.3 million euros.
The resort has a luxury spa, a sailing club and a sports center. The golf course was designed by the famous Landmark Land company. In the center of the resort, surrounded by olive groves, there is a condo-hotel Hotel Cortjo Fain, where you can also buy apartments.

4. Brazil, State of Pernambuco
The Reef Club is located 80 km south of Recife in the state of Pernambuco, on the southeastern coast of Brazil. It is located on an area of 560 hectares and has an exclusive 5-kilometer pristine beach framed by palm trees. The complex is an eco-community. It will consist of more than 4,000 houses and villas, two large and three small hotels. All buildings will be built using natural local materials.
Solar energy will be used for heating water and lighting. Rainwater accumulated in special tanks is supposed to be used for irrigation of the golf course. Only biological detergents will be used on the territory of the complex.
The resort was created in order to provide work and economic support to the local population previously employed in agriculture. The resort's infrastructure will include a spa, swimming pools, an 18-hole golf course, a horse riding center, a tennis academy, water sports centers, a diving school and a 300-seat yacht parking.

3. Portugal, Algarve
Alma Verde Village & Spa is located in the south of Portugal, a 1-hour drive from Faro Airport and close to the Costa Vicentina National Park. Only 10% of the area of 36 hectares is used for the construction of houses. The rest of the territory is reserved for streets, recreation areas, gardens. The developer has preserved the old trees on the territory – mature oaks, pines, and also planted 3,000 trees and bushes, and it is planned to plant another 7,000 trees.
The villas are built from natural materials, including clay bricks baked in the sun. All the houses are mostly single-storey, but with high ceilings, they have roof terraces and plots of 500 sq. m.
The resort will include 130 villas, 28 townhouses and two apartment complexes, as well as a spa, swimming pools, a fitness center, a wellness center and a restaurant. Now more than half of the villas have been built, and another part will be completed by mid-2008. The rest of the project is planned to be completed by 2010. Now you can find here offers of both ready-made housing and under construction. Prices range from 490 00 to 689 000 euros.

2. Thailand, Koh Kood
In the eastern part of Thailand, on the private, pristine Koh Kood island, the Soneva Kiri complex is being built, consisting of 20 eco-style villas. The construction company pays great attention to environmental protection. In particular, the Six Senses Zero Emissions Objective program will operate at the resort, which assumes in the near future the abandonment of the use of hydrocarbon fuels and the transition to environmentally friendly energy sources.
The villas will have an energy-saving design, they will provide additional roof ventilation, as well as passive and active cooling. It is planned to use thermal insulation materials created using High-R technology, as well as double-glazed windows with protection from solar radiation, which will save energy on air conditioning.
At this stage, the construction of four villas has been completed. The level of equipment will meet the highest international standards. The island has everything you need: an open-air cinema, a spa center, restaurants with European and local cuisine, as well as police, a medical unit and other necessary services. Prices start at $4.5 million.

1. Portugal, Lisbon
The Mata de Sesimbra project worth more than 1 billion euros will be implemented 35 km south of Lisbon.8000 residential buildings, schools, offices, infrastructure facilities will be built on the territory of 5,300 hectares. Half of the housing will be intended for permanent residents, and half for vacationers. The developer company will also restore 4,800 hectares of forest, thereby creating a huge eco-resort.
The complex will have houses built from ecological materials using Canadian technology, which provides good thermal insulation and creates less waste than conventional construction methods. Low water pressure will help to reduce its consumption by half, solar panels will provide some of the energy, and cars will not be allowed to travel to the resort.
The first stage of construction of the complex includes 500 houses, restaurants, bars and other infrastructure facilities. The estimated completion date of the first stage is 2010, and the entire project is 2015. Prices are expected from 100,000 euros for 1–bedroom apartments, from 250,000 euros for 2 or 3–bedroom villas and from 1 million euros for 4 or 5–bedroom villas.
