The first specialized exhibition in Ukraine "Real Estate Abroad" was held from November 2 to 3, 2007 in Kiev, at the HYATT Regency Hotel. The exhibition featured 32 participants from different countries, including Turkey, Montenegro, Germany, France, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the UAE, Croatia, Italy, Spain, and Panama. Visitors were able to personally familiarize themselves with the facilities of foreign developers, real estate agencies, as well as with the media specializing in real estate. Homes Overseas also took part in the exhibition.
The reasons why Ukrainian buyers are interested in real estate abroad are basically the same as in Russia. According to the director of the exhibition, Alexander Tarchenko, first of all, these are high housing prices in Ukraine, as well as the lack of alternative investment facilities. For your information, at the beginning of autumn, average prices for one–room apartments in Kiev ranged from $80,000 to 125,000, for three–room apartments - from $140,000 to $300,000 or more, not to mention luxury housing. In addition, it is often easier to get a mortgage loan abroad, not to mention its much more favorable terms. Finally, a buyer who has invested in real estate abroad gains additional advantages in obtaining a visa and traveling around Europe.
Although the exhibition was held for the first time, it made a great impression. The organizers managed to successfully resolve all the issues that usually arise during such events. The most important thing is that the exposition turned out to be quite visited – in two days about 3,000 people became its guests, of whom, according to the organizers, 77% were private individuals, and 23% represented companies.
The statistics provided by the results of the survey of visitors are very interesting. More than two thirds of the respondents reported that they are ready to purchase real estate abroad within a year. The most popular countries were Spain, Bulgaria and Cyprus. But Montenegro, which is in such high demand in Russia, was only in 10th place. Finally, the vast majority focuses on real estate worth up to 450,000 euros – only 8% of the survey participants are ready to purchase more expensive property.
The success of any exhibition is always determined by the number of transactions between sellers and buyers. This figure is unlikely to be calculated, but 85% of the exhibitors have already confirmed their participation in the next exhibition, which will be held in Kiev on March 28-29.
