Most European homebuyers' interest in North America is limited to the area within a 30-minute drive from Disney World in Orlando or the skyscrapers on Miami's beaches. It is to Florida that they go with the onset of winter to shelter from the cold and cloudy weather. But there are those who cross the ocean for winter as it is, with its ice, snow and frost. Skiing in Canada and the United States is a big deal in every sense of the word. Like everything in North America, the local mountains are high, resorts are large, apartments and private houses are spacious. And at the same time, the cost of real estate in comparison with prices in winter resorts in Europe does not seem transcendental here. Canada British Columbia, a province in southwestern Canada, is a major draw for ski enthusiasts around the world. Whistler Blackcomb resort with its magnificent slopes becomes the center, where tourists come every season. It is here that the longest winter season in North America will be held and the alpine skiing competitions at the 2010 Olympics will take place here. It is truly a world class resort and is very popular, which could not but reflect on the value of the property. But there are other stunning resorts in the area, the youngest and largest being Revelstoke. It has tremendous potential and will no doubt become another world famous area of British Columbia. Revelstoke will surely be of interest to prudent real estate buyers - there are not many highways here yet, but the amount of investment that should change these edges is impressive. By 2023, there are plans to build 3,000 housing units, 20 lifts and another 100 ski slopes, which will cost about $ 800 million. The Nelson Lodge complex is located at the resort of Revelstoke, on the steepest slope in North America. The 200 Nelson Lodge residences offer breathtaking views of the Columbia River and Monashi Mountains. Prices range from $ 545,000 for a 58 sq. m with one bedroom up to $ 2 million for an apartment of 162 sq. m with three bedrooms. Another ski resort in British Columbia, perhaps even larger than Revelstoke, deserves attention, Kicking Horse Resort, which is also about to compete with Whistler in terms of scale and quality of infrastructure. The resort is slated for completion in 2017. It features a wide range of properties, including apartments with varying numbers of bedrooms - from one to six, as well as chalets and townhouses up to 560 sq. About $ 200 million has already been invested in the development of the Kicking Horse infrastructure. In addition to world-class ski slopes, there will be a champion-class golf course, two hotels, six restaurants, a spa and four shopping centers. Kicking Horse offers houses for sale near the highways, on the territory of The Cabins: the cost of houses with an area of 186 sq. m with three to four bedrooms starts at $ 850,000. In the complex of apartments with one or two bedrooms The Aspens housing prices start at $ 230,000. The Cedar Creek complex under construction offers land for sale at a price of $ 270,000. to while away the long winter evenings in British Columbia, but does not at all seek to live in large-scale resort projects, the new cozy ParkHouse complex in the town of Squamish, just 45 minutes from Whistler, will do. Located at the mouth of the Squamish River and within walking distance of the city's shops and amenities, ParkHouse features 65 modern apartments with large windows and quality finishes. The complex also provides a spacious gym, storage and service for bicycles. One-bedroom apartments are offered at a price of $ 240,000, two-bedroom apartments - from $ 385,000. On the other, eastern side of Canada, in the country's largest and most populous province, Quebec, there are also interesting and prestigious year-round resorts. Thus, Montremblant enjoys great success not only among skiers, but also among fans of summer outdoor activities. In addition, the resort is located just 1.5 hours from Montreal. On the shores of Lake Superior in Montremblant is the magnificent Fraternite-sur-Lac eco-complex. The resort also includes luxury spas, gymnasium, tennis courts, swimming pools, marina and yacht club, bars and restaurants. Homes with three, four and five bedrooms can be purchased for prices ranging from $ 420,000 to $ 920,000, with a guaranteed rental income of 5% for two years. USA Colorado is the center of US skiing with world-class resorts such as Aspen and Vail, close to other emerging ski areas, 2,000 miles (about 3,700 km) southwest of Quebec. One of them is Winter Park, designed by Intrawest, a major ski resort developer. The unique family resort has slopes of any difficulty, in the center is the tourist village The Village. There are two ski areas adjacent - Winter Park and Mary Jane, and in total the resort has 130 slopes. Compared to, for example, housing in Aspen, properties in Winter Park are affordable. Studio apartments at Fraser Crossing start at $ 280,000, while two-bedroom apartments are priced at around $ 600,000. There is a similar price range in neighboring Founders Pointe. The Utah state bordering Colorado, near Salt Lake City, also offers many opportunities for skiers. On average, 1200 cm of snow falls here per year. However, the local resorts are not family-oriented. Prices in Salt Lake City are very reasonable, despite the fact that the apartments are being rented fully finished. So, in the town of Holladay, 35 minutes from the magnificent slopes, you can buy an apartment with an area of 76 sq. m, with two bedrooms and two parking spaces, in a complex with a communal pool and club house, for $ 225,000. On the east coast, skiers conquer the resorts of the state of New York. A six-bedroom Aspen villa-style home with windows overlooking Orange County forests, high vaulted ceilings and state-of-the-art equipment is on sale here for $ 1.5 million. There are no world-class slopes on the local mountains, but there are many good family resorts. including Mount Peter, opened in 1936, which offers free ski instruction for children.
