Arriving in Cyprus, many are surprised to find that this island provides much more than just a vacation on the beautiful Mediterranean island. The standard of living here is fully consistent with European standards, while its cost is relatively low. Tens of thousands of foreigners have already appreciated all the charm of climate, geographical location and the quality of life and made the island their second home. Excellent location, upscale property and low tax rates attract investors to Cyprus from all over the world.
Cyprus, the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, is known as a first-class holiday destination. The summer heat on the island is easily tolerated thanks to the refreshing sea breezes. Here you can enjoy the sun on the numerous beaches or spend time in the mountain cedar forests, saturated with the smells of herbs and resins.
Why do Russians buy houses in Cyprus? Everyone has their own reasons, and not everyone is initially going to use their property often, considering real estate solely as an investment. However, the reality of Cyprus is that there is no reason not to come to this sunny island more often. There are many more possibilities here than just beaches, sea and mountains.

Ideal for a family
A fairly common solution among those who buy real estate in Cyprus is to move their family and children to the island without curtailing business in Russia. This dramatically improves the quality of life from a variety of angles.
Firstly, the climate in Cyprus is incomparably healthier than anywhere in Russia. Many rate it as the best in the Mediterranean. Rains are very rare here, the sun shines almost always, even in winter – Cyprus has an average of 340 sunny days a year! The average daytime temperature in summer is +32 °C, in winter – +16 °C, and in autumn and spring – +25 °C. And although on the hottest days the thermometer in the shade often rises to +40 °C, the heat is relatively easy to bear here.
Secondly, Cyprus provides an excellent opportunity to receive a prestigious European education, both secondary and higher. As for school education, there is a prestigious International American School in Paphos, and an American Academy will open soon. Russian schools operate both in Paphos, Limassol and Nicosia. By the way, high-quality private schools also operate in the capital of Cyprus.
One of the most popular and largest educational institutions in Cyprus is Intercollege, where the level of education is not inferior to many European universities, and the cost of education is much lower. We also note Americanos College, where teachers from the USA, Great Britain and Canada work, and the educational process is built according to the American system of higher education. Excellent specialists are also trained by the Mediterranean Institute of Management (MIM) and the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM).
Another important point is that Cyprus has a well–developed healthcare system, whose services are available to everyone. The new hospitals in Paphos and Limassol are equipped with the latest medical equipment. Emergency medical care is provided free of charge, in other cases, hospital services must be paid for. For those who want to use private medicine, there are many private clinics and medical centers in Cyprus.

At the crossroads of all paths
Cyprus has everything you need not only for a comfortable life, but also for work. The advantageous geographical position of the island at the intersection of sea routes between three continents makes it an important business center of the Eastern Mediterranean. Thanks to a well-developed telecommunications network, you can easily combine leisure and business here.
The Republic of Cyprus has a well-developed infrastructure. Modern highways and a system of auxiliary roads allow you to get anywhere on the island in a matter of minutes. A well-developed banking system that is in no way inferior to continental European countries, a highly qualified healthcare system, as well as a brilliant level of service make the lives of people who have chosen the island as their second home comfortable and safe.

A pretentious future
In order for your home abroad to bring joy and really improve the quality of life, it is very important to choose the right place. Cyprus is a small island, and therefore the choice of destinations is not so great.
The largest city in Cyprus is its capital Nicosia, divided into two parts. It is not only the administrative, but also the cultural and business center of the Republic of Cyprus. Government institutions, business complexes, as well as most private universities are located here. However, among Russians buying property in Cyprus, Nicosia is not popular – it is not a resort town at all, moreover, located in the center of the island.
The second largest and most important city in the Republic of Cyprus is Limassol. It is a developed tourist, business, shopping and cultural center. The rhythms of the metropolis are combined with ample opportunities for recreation – but not everyone likes this mix. Besides, the city is already built up quite densely.
The life of Paphos, located on the southwestern coast of Cyprus, flows more calmly than in business Nicosia or in noisy Limassol. This part of Cyprus has the best climatic conditions – summers are cooler here, and winters are milder and shorter. In addition, the modern history of Paphos began relatively recently, and the potential for development is still great.
Englishman Colin Pearson, the owner of a villa at the Aphrodite Hills golf resort, located 15 km east of Paphos, notes that a quarter of a century ago Paphos was a small fishing village, and now it is a developing city with great prospects. The Pearson family, who have long loved Aphrodite Island, its sunny climate and the hospitality of the Cypriots, bought a holiday home in Cyprus a year ago.
Paphos wonderfully combines the atmosphere of antiquity and modern infrastructure. Numerous historical monuments are located in the center of the modern city, in the port and on the coast.
The city is conditionally divided into two parts – the upper and lower city. The lower city is very popular with tourists. There are restaurants, mostly not too expensive, nightclubs and all kinds of shops. Most of the restaurants offer international dishes or specialize in national cuisines – Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc. The Upper Town is mainly inhabited by the indigenous population, in fact, it is an urban center. Banks, the mayor's office, and educational institutions are located in this area. The beaches of Paphos are mostly pebbly, but only 15 minutes away. Coral Bay, a bay with beautiful sandy beaches, is located nearby.
It is in Paphos that the Government of the Republic of Cyprus is now investing heavily. It is planned to build a large business and university complex here, where a Technological university, a research center, a business center, a number of cultural, residential and commercial facilities, a large park area and a new hospital will be created. But the most ambitious project is the construction to the west of Paphos of the largest yacht parking lot (marina) for 1000 places, not only in Cyprus, but also in the entire Mediterranean Sea. It is assumed that this project will attract wealthy tourists to Cyprus.
Paphos International Airport will also develop, which will soon be able to receive significantly more passengers than before. In addition, the road to the airport will be turned into an expressway – this will reduce travel time.
With the advent of new large-scale projects in Cyprus, the island has new prospects, and the creation of the richest infrastructure and the desire of Europeans to live here determine the future appearance of the island. Modern Paphos and its immediate surroundings, currently experiencing a period of rapid economic development, are becoming ideal for recreation and permanent residence and are gaining fame as a calm, green and prestigious resort.
