Is it true that he abolished the law, adopted from 1 September 2014? To obtain a residence permit in Latvia what kind of property you need to buy today? What should be its cadastral value and what is market value?

Dear Elena, the law on granting a residence permit when buying property in Latvia was adopted on 1 June 2010 and 1 September 2014 has been amended in particular, the purchase amount is increased to 250 000 Euro. At the moment the law is not abolished but suspended for political reasons. If You are considering buying real estate for the purpose of obtaining a residence permit, it is possible to consider alternative countries of the EU, e.g. Greece where, with the purchase of the property by the same amount as in Latvia (250 000 euros) you can get residency in Cyprus when buying from 300 000 Euro, in Spain and Portugal of 500 000 euros.

Good day, Elena. No it is not true. Currently, only the Seimas is considered such a possibility. The changes were approved in the first reading. We are waiting for the second.
