Good day, hoity-toity, on many sites related to real estate in Montenegro, I write that from 2015 when buying a property a residence permit is obtained automatically, is this true?

We are pleased to inform you that the President of Montenegro signed the Law on foreigners provide for the possibility of obtaining a residence permit in the country when buying property in Montenegro. The new procedure will be effective from 01.04.2015.
The law applies to contracts of sale entered into after April 1, 2015. Judging from current information, it covers only purchase of residential property.
The value limits are not yet established.

Aden, of course not. Nowhere and never given a residence permit automatically. Upon entry into force of this act the property owners will be eligible to apply for a residence permit and the basis for this.

The draft of the new aliens act, under which the purchase of real estate in Montenegro will be the basis for obtaining a property owner of a residence permit for a period of 1 year (with subsequent annual renewal), was ratified by the Parliament of Montenegro in December 2014. It is expected the entry into force of the new law in early 2015. The law will come into force after its official publication. Thus, at the moment, buying property does not give grounds for obtaining a residence permit, but this should change in the near future.
