It is proposed to introduce a new tax in the amount of 20% of the rental value of real estate (new article 234 sexdecies of the Tax Code). It is assumed that it will
be paid annually by non-resident individuals who directly or indirectly own real estate in France and which they freely possess (i.e. do not rent, for example). This law has not yet been adopted. But it will probably be finalized, since it is unclear how to calculate the rental cost. We will keep our readers informed as events unfold.
