Residence permit - stay in the country

asks:
Hello. I have been in Austria with my children for more than 20 years, we have real estate. Under what conditions does our permanent residence / residence permit remain if children go to school in another country? How often do we need to come to Austria? Thanks

Hello, Lyudmila!
Thank you for your letter and for your questions.
To maintain a residence permit in Austria, you need to live in the country for more than 180 days a year.
If your children are constantly going to school in another country, then you need to get a residence permit there.
Sincerely,

Hello! As I understand it, you yourself have been in Austria for more than 20 years with permanent residence, and school-age children. The condition for extending permanent residence is proof of the location of the center of your vital interests in Austria. If you all moved to another country (EU?) If you are in Austria for less than 183 days during the year, then the relevant authorities (magistrates in Vienna and the Bezirkhauptmannschaften regional commissions) can decide that you have lost contact with Austria. And the permanent education of your children at school will be controlled by the School Board. This does not mean that there are no ways to preserve permanent residence in Austria if these conditions are not fully met. Sincerely, Dr. Victor Novikov
