According to Article 1, paragraph 384 of the Law 197/2022, better known as Legge di Bilancio 2023, the limit on cash payments from January 1, 2023 is 5,000 euros. Everything above this amount is paid only through banks, mail, cryptocurrencies and other electronic payment systems.
The exception is payment in retail and travel agencies, as well as by persons residing outside the European Union.
In this case, the cash limit is 15,000 euros.
