Starting April 13, 2012, the cost of the consular fee for processing nonimmigrant entry visas to the United States will rise by $20, according to an online source RBC, with reference to a message from the US State Department.

This applies to the most popular type of visas - B1/B2 (tourist, usually issued for a year), business visas, all student visas, as well as visas issued to participants of exchange programs. So the cost will be increased from $140 to $160.

In addition, visas of other types, which are issued to cultural figures, athletes, temporary workers and religious ministers, will become more expensive. The consular fee for such visas will increase from $150 to $190.

But visas for brides and grooms will become much cheaper and will cost not $ 350, but $ 240. The cost of some immigration visas will also decrease.

According to the US State Department, the increase in the cost of visas is due to the fact that the amounts currently charged do not cover the actual costs that the US government incurs when considering applications.
