The Indonesian authorities plan to impose a ban on the construction of new hotels, villas, resorts and some entertainment venues in the most sought-after and built-up areas of Bali, such as Changu and Uluwatu. This was announced last month by Indonesian Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno.
It is expected that the ban will come into force in October and will last 3–5 years.
Such a drastic measure should help solve the problem with traffic jams on the island. In addition, the restriction will stop the transfer of agricultural land to sites for the construction of tourist facilities.
