Bulgaria, which has become a new full member of the Schengen area, instructed the working group to speed up the visa issuance process in order to improve its tourism sector. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshos, stressing that membership in the Schengen area is a huge opportunity.
"To make the most of this opportunity, we must remove the administrative barriers that hinder the development of the tourism sector," the minister said. By joining the Schengen area, Bulgaria will gain an advantage in attracting more tourists, and "if we don't act decisively, we may miss this opportunity."
Borshos also noted that it is necessary to improve the process of issuing work visas to citizens of countries outside the EU and the Schengen area.
"We need to simplify the procedures for hiring employees in order to ensure the long-term competitiveness of Bulgarian tourism," the minister believes.
