From January to July 2016, Bulgaria was visited by 4,5 million foreigners, and local authorities are full of optimism – 2016 could be a record for the country. The number of Russians in the resorts of Bulgaria is also growing. About it reports the portal of the Association of tour operators of Russia ATOR.
So, in the summer season, from April to August 2016, the Consulate of Bulgaria issued to Russians more than 260,000 visas, which, according to preliminary data, 30% more than in the same period last year. The Minister of tourism of Bulgaria Nikolina Angelkova said that "the market Russia Bulgaria gets very good results."
Earlier in interview to "Vestnik ATOR" Angelkova said that in may, Bulgaria was visited by about 31 000 Russian tourists, which is 24% higher than in may 2015. Just last summer season in Bulgaria was visited by more than 361 000 Russians, and in 2015 the country in total took 484 000 tourists from Russia. It is the fifth largest rate among all inbound markets.
According to the Bulgarian Ministry of tourism, at the end of this season, the country hopes to receive about 5 million foreigners. During the first seven months of 2016 Bulgaria has already attracted 4.5 million foreign tourists (17% more than last year). This summer, along with the Russians come to the country, the people of France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary. In addition, it remains of interest and tourists with traditional Bulgarian markets, such as Romania, Germany, UK, Greece and Israel. As noted Nikolina Angelkova, often tourists go on holiday to the seaside resorts, but there are travel inside Bulgaria.
As the Minister said, if the rate of arrival of foreign guests will continue until the end of the year, then 2016 will be the most successful for the Bulgarian tourism. However, she stressed that the country also expected to be very successful autumn season. And the price of leisure at local resorts during this period will fall by about 30% compared to summer offers.
