The cost of housing in Romania is still more affordable compared to many other countries in the Balkans, the Romanian edition writes href="https://business-review.eu/real-estate-guide/local-residential-market-facing-price-growth-pressures-over-lower-deliveries-266341 " target="_blank">Business Review.
According to the data Imobiliare.ro Average apartment prices in the country reached 1,596 euros per sq.m in April 2024. Over the 13 years from 2010 to 2023, real estate prices rose by 25%, while in the European Union this figure was 48%.
Market experts expect a further increase in demand after the expected reduction in interest rates on loans. This is projected to push prices up.
"Taking into account the housing shortage estimated at 200,000 units, as well as the fact that Bucharest is ahead of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in GDP growth, the dynamics of the Romanian market is promising," adds Beatrice Dumitrascu, CEO of the development company One United Properties
