The Swiss residential real estate price index (IMPI) in the period from October to December 2023 increased by 1.1% to 117.4 points compared to the previous quarter, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) reported. The increase in prices for private houses (+0.5%) and apartments in condominiums (+1.7%) contributed to an increase in the overall index.
On an annual basis, prices rose by 1.2%. At the same time, the cost of apartments in condominiums increased by 2.5%, and in private houses decreased by 0.2%.
In the fall of 2023, analysts are pretty looked pessimistically at the Swiss real estate market and predicted a decline in prices. They motivated their forecast by increased interest rates on loans and risks.
Foreigners are allowed to buy real estate in Switzerland, but the rules vary depending on the type of property and the buyer's country of origin.
