Houses in Switzerland rose in price by 0.8% month-on-month and 3.6% year-on-year in June. The increase in apartment prices was more moderate after a sharp increase in May. Monthly growth was 0.2%, annual growth was 4.5%.
At home
In the Lake Geneva area, houses rose in price by 2%. Their prices also increased in Northwestern Switzerland (+1.6%) and in Eastern Switzerland (+1.5%).
The Zurich region recorded an atypical decrease in house prices (-0.9%).
Apartments
In the condominium market of Central Switzerland, prices increased the most by 1.8%, which is probably largely due to the very limited supply. Eastern Switzerland recorded an increase of 0.4%, which is slightly higher than the average.
Zurich (+0.1%), Ticino (+0.1%) and Northwestern Switzerland (-0.1%) saw slight changes from the previous month, while the Central Plateau region (-0.2%) and Lake Geneva (-0.3%) saw a slight decrease in apartment prices.
Rent
Rents in many regions continue to rise, especially when new apartments are rented out.
The gap between the cost of renting and the cost of owning real estate is widening again. Thus, owning a house is currently cheaper than renting, especially in the long run.
