The Embassy of Montenegro in Moscow said in response to a request from journalists that the country will introduce visas for Russians by the end of September 2026.
This measure, which the government tried to delay, is necessary because the state must bring its visa policy in line with EU standards by the end of the third quarter of 2026.
Montenegro has been a candidate country for EU membership since 2010. Recently, the authorities have stepped up efforts to bring visa policy in line with EU standards. Recently, in particular, visa-free travel for Turkish citizens was abolished.Currently, Russians can stay in Montenegro without a visa for up to 30 days.
