The number of foreign workers in Latvia has more than doubled compared to 2015, the latest statistics from the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs show.
The number of temporary residence permits based on employment has reached 15,558 this year.
The number of residence permits issued to family members of foreigners reached 2,168 in 2024 (compared to 1,322 in 2015).
The largest number of foreign workers came to Latvia from Ukraine (3,350 people), Uzbekistan (2,549 people), Belarus (1,423 people), India (1,208 people) and Lithuania (995 people).
Latvia lacks specialists in 37 professions in sectors such as construction, engineering, repair and maintenance of equipment, transport and healthcare.
