The number of Russians who bought real estate in Bulgaria in 2012 increased by 10% compared to 2011, according to an online source Novinite.ru with reference to the message of the Bulgarian Ambassador to Russia Boyko Kotsev.
According to official data, about 338,000 Russian citizens now own housing in Bulgaria. Mr. Kotsev notes that a few years ago, Russians were mostly interested in buying apartments from 55,000 euros, and now the demand has shifted towards objects priced from 20,000 to 55,000 euros. Russians, as a rule, use the purchased apartments during the flight period.
About 85% of home purchases in Bulgaria are for real estate on the Black Sea coast and only 15% in the mountainous area of Bulgaria.
