With the expansion of Internet access and the spread of remote work practices, a wide range of employees, from high-income software developers to low-paid customer service specialists, can perform their functions online. This trend opens up opportunities for both employers and workers, for example, from low-income countries with a growing working-age population, as well as from countries with higher incomes but labor shortages.
By 2030, the number of remote workers in the world will grow to about 92 million, the forecast says World Economic Forum, published in January 2024.
Among the professions that will increasingly switch to the remote format are software developers, information security specialists, financial managers, lawyers, accountants and auditors, marketing managers, managers in the medical field, computer science teachers and others.
