Starting from April 15, 2026, foreign citizens arriving in Vietnam are required to fill out a digital migration card (digital arrival card) before passing through passport control. The new system is already operating at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, one of the busiest in the country.
The innovation concerns tourists with visa-free entry, holders of electronic visas, as well as Vietnamese living abroad and entering on a visa.
72 hours before arrival (as late as possible, but not earlier), go to the website prearrival.immigration.gov.vn , fill in the passport details, flight number, residential address and purpose trips (the whole process takes about five minutes). Next, you will receive a QR code by email. It will need to be shown at passport control.
Those who arrived at the airport without a digital card can apply for it on the spot, but it will take longer to pass through passport control.Vietnam, therefore, follows the example of other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Singapore, which have already implemented similar systems.
