In January-March 2024, the Dominican Republic set a new record for the number of visitors to the island.
Data provided by Tourism Minister David Collado showed that 3,225,484 people visited the Spanish-speaking island. According to him, there have never been such impressive figures in the history of the country. In March, the number of vacationers increased by 13% compared to March last year and by 24% compared to 2019.
Most of the tourists came from the USA (49%) and Canada (23%).
61% of the guests preferred Punta Cana resort.
The tourist flow from Russia to the Dominican Republic has decreased significantly due to the lack of direct flights. Previously, Russian tourists occupied one of the leading positions in terms of the duration of holidays in the Dominican Republic and the amount of spending on the island.
