In 2024, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested 104 million euros in nine significant projects in Montenegro.
Of this amount, 92 million euros, or 89% of the total investment, were allocated to green projects supporting energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and decarbonization efforts, according to a statement provided to the Investor.
Here are some of these projects:
- Two energy efficiency projects in public buildings totaling 32 million euros.They are aimed at repairing 24 schools and 3 hospitals.
- A loan of 28 million euros for the modernization of the Brezna substation, which will integrate more than 400 MW of new renewable energy capacity into the network.
- A loan of 30 million euros for the purchase of three new trains that will replace the old equipment.
- Support for 29 small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their competitiveness and business practices.
