The EBRD has invested 104 million euros in Montenegro

In 2024, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested 104 million euros in nine significant projects in Montenegro.

Of this amount, 92 million euros, or 89% of the total investment, were allocated to green projects supporting energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and decarbonization efforts, according to a statement provided to the Investor.

Here are some of these projects:

  1. Two energy efficiency projects in public buildings totaling 32 million euros.They are aimed at repairing 24 schools and 3 hospitals.
  2. A loan of 28 million euros for the modernization of the Brezna substation, which will integrate more than 400 MW of new renewable energy capacity into the network.
  3. A loan of 30 million euros for the purchase of three new trains that will replace the old equipment.
  4. Support for 29 small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their competitiveness and business practices.
