Currently, in order to apply for a Digital Nomad visa in Estonia, people must earn 4,500 euros per month, which is a fairly high bar. In most other European countries, the requirements are significantly lower:

- Latvia - 2857 euros,
- Portugal - 3040 euros,
- Greece – 3500 euros
- Romania - 3700 euros.
Estonia offers 2 types of digital nomad visa: C for 90 days and D for a year. Since the opening of the program in 2020, Estonia has issued 535 digital nomad visas.

The minister believes that digital nomads help boost the country's economy by spending money on things like accommodation, food, transportation and entertainment.
