A commission of representatives of the Finnish authorities believes that a complete ban on the sale of real estate to Russian citizens is impractical.
A group of experts noted that visa restrictions that came into force on September 30, 2022 have already led to a reduction in housing transactions with Russians. Now the commission is working on how to strengthen security control without completely abandoning transactions with Russian buyers.
The commission consists of:Representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Employment and Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment and other departments of Finland.
Russians are traditionally active investors in Finnish real estate, preferring to buy houses in border areas.
