On July 15, a ban on real estate transactions for citizens of Russia and Belarus who do not have a Finnish residence permit came into force in Finland.
Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen stressed that the restriction is aimed at strengthening Finland's security.
Current legislation already allows you to ban the sale of a house if the authorities consider the transaction unsafe. However, as the minister previously noted, the new law will simplify this task.
The number of Russians who want to buy an apartment or a house in Finland has already decreased to a minimum, as it is difficult to come to the country due to the closed borders. In addition, property owners from the Russian Federation have difficulty paying utility bills.Source: Yle
