From 2025, tourists coming to Greece will pay a tourist tax of 2 euros per day instead of the current 0.5 euros.During the high season, which lasts from April to October, this tax will be increased from 1.5 to 8 euros.
In addition, accommodation in high-rated hotels will also be taxed at the rate of 15 euros, while lower rates will be provided for other accommodation options.
For cruise ship passengers, a tax is set from 5 to 20 euros, depending on the destination.
Through these innovations, the Greek government aims to increase tourism revenues.
According to the latest data from the Bank of Greece, from January to August 2024, a total of 24.89 million foreign tourists visited Greece, which brought in revenue of 15 billion euros.
