The Russians are still active players in the overseas property market, despite the jumps in the ruble exchange rate and the unstable foreign policy situation. This is evidenced by the growing number of requests for the purchase and rental of housing on the portal HomesOverseas.ru.
In the first quarter of 2015, the total number of requests increased by 21% compared with the fourth quarter of 2014 . “It is obvious that the sharp decline in demand for overseas property in December-January was mainly due to the weakening of the ruble, while the solvency of Russian buyers did not change significantly,” said Sergey Rymov, head of HomesOverseas.ru. “Now, when the ruble exchange rate has returned to the level of last autumn, we see that the activity of portal visitors has increased significantly.”
The leaders of demand are still Bulgaria and Spain, which account for more than 40% of the total number of requests. Confident third place holds Turkey - every 10th request is associated with the purchase of real estate at one of the Turkish Mediterranean resorts.
In general, a dozen leaders did not undergo significant changes, not counting the fact that Greece and Cyprus pressed Germany. Obviously, this is due to the seasonal increase in requests for rental of resort housing.
