The Minister of Justice of Ireland, Simon Harris, said that the Golden Visa program is being closed in Ireland.
According to him, this decision was influenced by the opinion of the European Commission and the Council of Europe. These international organizations consider such programs risky and insist on their termination.
The program for granting a residence permit of the country for investments was launched more than 10 years ago. During this time, with the help of it, it was possible to attract about 1.25 billion euros (this is not the final figure, since all submitted applications have not yet been processed). The funds received were used to finance social housing projects, pension institutions, reconstruction of hotels, as well as support for universities in Ireland.
