In the third quarter of 2015 13,52% of the total volume of residential property sales in Spain accounted for foreigners, that is 1 out of 10 Spanish residential properties purchased by foreign citizen, resident or non-resident of Spain, writes the portal Spanish Property Insight , citing data from the Registration chamber of the country.
Only in the third quarter of the foreigners in Spain occurred on 12 535 transactions of sale and purchase of real estate, which is 20% higher than in the same period last year. Sales to local residents has also increased by 16% (80 of 251 transactions of purchase and sale).
For the first three quarters of this year, foreign demand for Spanish housing increased by 13% and amounted to 43 758 transactions compared to 12% and 235 749 transactions of sale committed by Spanish citizens.
After several years of decline, demand from local residents is finally starting to grow, but not as fast as the demand from foreigners, notes Spanish Property Insight. In many respects the overall rate of growth depends on increasing sales to buyers from the UK in the third quarter acquired 2895 residential properties in Spain. It almost twice above, than for the representatives of the next largest group of customers – the French, who bought during this period of 1095 objects, and 31% more than in the previous quarter.
