South Korea has introduced a digital nomad visa, which will allow foreigners to enjoy a long stay in the country while working remotely. This visa program started working on January 1, 2024.
Visitors will be able to stay in South Korea for a maximum of two years, while the main requirement is that they continue to work for the company in their home country and have proven experience in their field. Among the conditions are also: the availability of health insurance, as well as income 2 times higher than the annual gross national income of South Korea per capita (33,645 US dollars according to 2022 data). Thus, the applicant's monthly salary should be over 5,600 US dollars.
It is emphasized that holders of a digital nomad visa will not be able to work in South Korean companies. They are actually prohibited from engaging in any profitable activity on the territory of the country.
