The most active buyers are the British, although sales to them decreased by 19% compared to the 1st half of 2023. They are followed by citizens of the United States (+12.7%), Portugal, Italy and Ukraine (+20.8%).
Citizens of Sweden, the USA, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and Russia are in the lead in terms of the cost of purchased objects.The average price that foreigners pay for housing in Spain is currently at a historic high.
Eight autonomous regions have reached record levels in terms of the number of transactions with foreigners in six months. The Valencian Autonomous Region became the leader with 21,224 transactions. This region accounts for more than 30% of all sales to foreigners.Since 2016, purchases by foreign citizens in Castellon, Valencia and Alicante account for one fourth of the total number of transactions.
Other autonomous regions also recorded record sales in the first half of 2024, including 3,840 deals in Murcia, more than 1,280 in Castile and Leone, 919 in Galicia, 873 in the Basque Country.Rioja and Extremadura also showed good results.
Sales in other popular regions
- Madrid has 5,097 transactions, the second highest figure since 2016, second only to the first half of 2022.
- Catalonia has 10,465 transactions, the third largest indicator.
- Andalusia has 12,600 deals.
In the Balearic and Canary Islands, the indicators were high, but also did not reach the peak values of two years ago.
