The parliamentarians of Cyprus last week passed a bill making it easier for highly qualified foreign specialists and their family members to obtain citizenship by naturalization.
Among the requirements for applicants:
- Stay on the island from 4 to 5 years (depending on the level of language proficiency);
- Certificate of proficiency in Greek at B1 level;
- Stable income (at least 2.5 thousand per month);
- Confirmation of high qualification;
- No criminal record.
According to the deputies, the proposed new naturalization model has nothing to do with investments, but is related to knowledge. The aim of the initiative is to attract even more qualified experts in specific fields to Cyprus.
