Latvia extended the ban on Russian tourists entering the country until March 4, 2025, justifying this for security reasons.
Entry restrictions will continue to apply to Russian citizens wishing to come for tourism and recreation purposes. The measure was introduced in September 2022, and the authorities decided to extend it for another 12 months.
Some groups of Russians are exempt from this ban. Among them:
- having a residence permit issued by Latvia or any other EU/EEA country;
- having a long-term Schengen visa;
- family members of Latvian and EU citizens who have a short-term visa;
- entering Latvia for humanitarian reasons;
- employees of freight and passenger transport services.
