One of the advantages of Lisbon is its relative accessibility compared to other Western European capitals. Security is another strong point of Lisbon. The level of security here exceeds that of Barcelona, Paris and Rome. The city is recognized as one of the safest in the world: the level of violent crimes is low, and the main problems are reduced to pickpocketing in tourist areas. In everyday life, it is comfortable to walk in the evening and use public transport late at night.
Air quality and ecology also played an important role. The location on the coast contributes to the fact that sea breezes purify the air, and the absence of heavy industry makes the pollution level lower than in other capitals. The ease of adaptation for foreigners has become an important factor. The English language proficiency in Lisbon is very high, which reduces difficulties in the first year after moving. However, Lisbon has its drawbacks.: rapidly rising rental and real estate prices, especially in the center, as well as bureaucratic delays. In winter, visitors may be surprised by poorly insulated old apartments and dampness. Nevertheless, according to a combination of factors - safety, climate, accessibility and quality of life - Lisbon is now recognized as the best city to move to.
