The UK is considering a government proposal according to which immigrants living in the country with a taxable income of at least 125,000 pounds will be able to obtain an indefinite residence permit (ILR) after 3 years. Now this period is 5 years, and for most other categories of foreigners it is 10 years.
A possible innovation is the central element of a large-scale migration reform, which the government calls "the largest revision of the legal migration system in the last 50 years."
What are the requirements for accelerated permanent residence in the UK?
- Taxable income in the UK starting from 125,000 pounds for three consecutive years or a status that meets the requirements of Global Talent/Innovator Founder with extended verification.
- The conditions also include: no criminal record; three years of payment of contributions to the national insurance fund; no debt to the state; knowledge of English at least A-level, with the possibility of reducing requirements with a higher level of proficiency.
This news appeared shortly aftersignificant outflow of wealthy individuals and foreign executives from the UK. Some experts predict that this trend will increase due to the upcoming proposal to introduce an inheritance tax.
