Bali hosted a meeting of representatives of the Villa Rental and Management Association (BVRMA).
The members of the organization spoke about the increasing cases of fraud in the rental market. According to them, scammers "often imitate official companies in order to deceive potential tenants." In addition, many foreigners who manage the rental of real estate on the island do so illegally, abusing their visas. Thus, most of the profits are controlled from abroad, without significant contribution to Bali's economy.
BVRMA offers to start cooperation with the island's tourism department. Representatives of the association want to take over the verification of agencies and create a list of reliable, authorized companies. "Consumers will be able to use the website to rent verified villas. Agents not included in the list will be considered unsafe and will not be recommended." Bali is only used as a place to make money, while environmental and social impacts such as garbage become our burden. We are asking for strict control from the immigration service and other politicians," said Kadek Adnana, Chairman of BVRMA.Source: Bali Post
