The programs for granting residence permits for investments in Hungary, Greece and Italy are the best in the world. This is the conclusion reached by Arton Capital, a financial consulting company, writes SchengenNews. The top five also included "golden visas" of the United Arab Emirates and the Caribbean island state of Antigua and Barbuda.
"During the COVID-19 pandemic, many American investors were unable to enter Europe, so now they are looking for residence permit programs in European countries. After the recent elections in France and the UK, we also see millionaires from these countries who want to move," says Armand Arton, president of Arton Capital.
The Golden Visa programs allow foreign citizens to obtain a residence permit in exchange for financial investments and fulfillment of necessary conditions.
Hungary
Hungary launched the Golden Visa scheme in 2013, but scrapped it in 2017.In more than 4 years, it has brought the country a total of 1.4 billion euros.
This year, the Hungarian government decided to re-launch the program, which is now called "The program of invited investors" (GIP).
The Hungarian scheme is attracting growing interest from wealthy foreign citizens, as it provides an option for investing in real estate, which Portugal refused and Spain almost refused.
The Spanish program is on the verge of closing, but, nevertheless, you can still make an application by investing in a residential or commercial object.
Greece
Greece is also known for its Golden Visa program. However, in an attempt to cope with the housing crisis, the government has made changes to it that entered into force on September 1 of this year.
The essence of the changes is to increase the minimum amount of investment. In some parts of the country, the threshold has been raised to 800,000 euros.
Recently, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that "golden visas" will now also be issued to entrepreneurs. Foreigners will be able to obtain a residence permit for 5 years for investing 250,000 euros in startups of the country.
Italy
The Italian similar program is called the "Investor Visa to Italy".
Wealthy foreign citizens have the right to take advantage of this scheme by choosing several proposed investment options, including investing 2 million euros in government bonds, 500,000 euros in corporate bonds or shares, or at least 250,000 euros in innovative startups.
