It is expected that the opening of Corvera airport near the city of Murcia in the Spanish province of Alicante will triple the number of tourists in the region, create conditions for reducing the cost of air tickets, as well as increase the occupancy rate of resort properties for rent by 25%. The opening of Korver Airport is expected in September 2011. After completion of all work, it will be able to receive up to 3 million passengers per year.
The demand for rental real estate in the region has already increased somewhat due to the increase in passenger traffic at Alicante Airport (2.7% in 2010), as well as the constant development of leisure infrastructure – this is the assessment given by Atlas International agency.
The 2011 Spanish budget allocated 555 million euros for the development of the infrastructure of the Alicante region, including the construction of a high-speed railway that will connect Alicante with Madrid. The creation of the Paramount Studios theme park, near Murcia, has also been approved, which will create 20,000 jobs and attract millions of visitors per year, thus increasing the demand for rental and purchase of real estate.
