The United Arab Emirates has introduced consular services for holders of a golden visa. Previously, these privileges were only available to UAE citizens. The initiative was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Agency for Identification, Citizenship, Customs Control and Port Security (ICP).
According to officials, this is the world's first experience of this kind of support for residents.
Consular services include: emergency assistance abroad, electronic passport replacement, round-the-clock response to crisis situations, coordination of repatriation of remains.Holders of a golden visa and their dependents with a valid residence permit can receive support through a special hotline and through digital platforms.
Golden visa holders who have lost their passport during their trip can request an electronic document through the website or application of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs using the UAE Pass. You will need to provide a copy of the passport loss statement, the details of the golden visa, and a fresh passport photo with a white background.
In most cases, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue the document within 30 minutes. It is valid for single entry into the UAE for seven days from the date of issue.
The Ministry has opened a 24-hour hotline at (+971) 2 493 1133. You can use it to get immediate help in emergency situations and contact the embassy.
The Golden Visa program was launched in 2019 as a long-term residence permit option that allows foreign residents to live, work and study without a local sponsor. Initially, the scheme was focused on investors, entrepreneurs, the best students, scientists and specialists in various fields.
Due to recent changes in legislation, content creators and teachers have been granted the right to participate in the program.
The UAE Pass application, accessible to all residents of the country, provides centralized access to various services and information, from medical documents to court cases and vehicle confiscation records.
The initiative demonstrates that the golden visa is not just a way to stay in the country, but also an opportunity to become a part of it.
