As remote work has become commonplace, more and more people are considering moving to another country. At the same time, many people focus not on megacities, but on small, comfortable cities.
Resource Compare the Market analyzed 47 towns and identified 10 most suitable for life. Factors such as safety, health care, unemployment, climate, cost of food, number of restaurants and places for entertainment were taken into account.
Paphos, located on the southern coast of Cyprus, topped the rating. The city leads in the number of restaurants (500), ranks third in the number of entertainment venues (17). There are only about 70 rainy days a year.
The entire top 10 looks like this:
- Paphos, Cyprus
- Arrecife, Spain (Lanzarote, Canary Islands)
- Trapani, Italy (Sicily) Lugano, Switzerland (near the border with Italy)
- Opava, Czech Republic (near the border with Poland)
- Pula, Croatia
- Aveiro, Portugal
- Grand Prairie, Canada (Alberta)
- Barreiro, Portugal
- Cosenza, Italy (Calabria)
As you can see, only one non-European city entered the top ten - Canadian Grand Prairie, located in northern Alberta, 4.5 hours drive from Edmonton.
The advantages of small towns include: a measured pace of life, easy access to nature, more affordable housing.
