In Paris, the maximum period for which you can rent your apartment on a daily basis has been reduced from 4 months (120 days) to 3 months (90 days) per year. This was announced by the mayor's office of the French capital on its website.
The new rules will take effect on January 1, 2025.
Paris has the highest rent ceiling in Europe. Many owners of the capital's real estate took advantage of this and rented out their apartments to tourists. We are talking about more than 95,000 furnished properties, including 78,000 main residences converted into temporary mini-hotels. Such data is provided by the Paris Mayor's Office.
The rules for short-term rentals are also being tightened in other French municipalities, as well as in other European cities popular with tourists.
