Portugal plans to add a new option to its Golden Visa program, investments in social projects, according to Schengen.News.
The new type of residence permit will be called "Solidarity". The minimum investment amount is 250,000 euros.
It is not yet specified when the innovation will take effect.
It is expected that the funds received will be used for social projects for the integration of immigrants in vulnerable situations.
The Golden Visa program implies that wealthy foreigners receive a residence permit of the country for investments. Previously, real estate was the most popular investment option, but last year the government eliminated this option due to problems with housing affordability.
