The Italian Government failed to attract buyers in the military barracks in the north in the town of Albenga, reports BFM.ru with reference to Bloomberg. Located in Liguria on the Mediterranean coast barracks were put up for sale for 40 million euros. This is the first of 11 military facilities that are going to realize the country's leadership. Buildings were left without work after the 2005 abolition of compulsory military service in the country. Currently in Italy for 70 thousand fewer soldiers than there were 10 years ago. Local authorities through the sale of state property trying to make up for the budget deficit, formed as a result of the global financial crisis (in 2009 the deficit reached 5.3% of GDP). In the past, the government has earned on the sale of property 165 million euros (on the market was put objects on the 229 million euros). This year, the income from the sale of real estate amounted to EUR 80 million. Because of the crisis, the budget of municipalities was reduced. As compensation, the country's leadership has offered to sell the region of 12 thousand state objects of real estate in the next year. This, according to the calculations of the authorities, should bring 3.6 billion euros.
