Data from the Jewish Agency obtained at the request of The Jerusalem Post says that in January 2023, the number of Olim (repatriates) who arrived in Israel through this organization reached 6622, which is 211% more than in the first month of 2022.
The largest group is 5,500 people from Russia. This is 637% more than in January last year. The number of Ukrainians who committed Aliyah in January 2023 is 320, Belarusians are 159.
According to the report, 93% of the Olim who arrived in Israel in January 2023 are citizens of the countries of the former USSR.
Thus, a new major wave of repatriation, which occurred in 2022 against the background of the military conflict in Ukraine, continues. Last year, the number of olymes was almost 70,000, which is twice as much as a year earlier.
